This is one of my favorite outfits I have ever shot. I feel like each part of it emphasized my best features – so to my petite friends, I highly recommend this look for your next date night or night out with the girls! This cropped camisole by Leith is still fully stocked and under $50!! What I love most about this look is that it so easily transitions from day to night. Don’t you think?!
If you have been following along for any length of time you know that I swear by TopShop jeans. These are the “Jamie” style in a size 26 which typically fits like a 2-4. TopShop is super petite friendly, so if you haven’t tried anything by them yet I suggest you do! Something else I love about high-rise jeans, especially for petites, is that they help to give the illusion of longer legs. I am 5′ tall exactly and have never once had to alter these jeans plus they give me confidence by making me look and feel taller.
Now, 99% of you are probably taller than 5′! But that’s okay! These jeans work great as a cropped style which, I believe, is how they are supposed to fit anyway!
If you’re like me, then you don’t like the idea of anything putting pressure on your tummy. Much to my surprise, these jeans are more comfortable than any hip-hugger or mid-rise jeans I have owned! So if you’re worried about being uncomfortable, don’t be.
Finally, I paired this look with black strappy wedges, and my Kate Spade wallet that can double as a clutch! To dress up this outfit even more for a night out, I would recommend adding a sparkly or silver statement earring.
As for the day time version of this outfit, I think a simple grey cardigan would be perfect to throw on over this crop.
Another note about this crop top – the cut of it is perfect. It isn’t cut too low under the arms so I was able to wear my favorite strapless bra underneath without it poking out from the sides.
I also wanted to mention why I loved this photoshoot so much. Of course, the outfit is stellar, But I have to say that being a husband & wife team with this blog is what has made blogging so enjoyable. My sweet hubby, Jonny, takes all of my photos for me (and he actually enjoys it!) At the tail end of this shoot, it started pouring rain. At first we were sad and considered giving up. Instead, we started driving around some of the back streets in downtown Austin neighborhoods and found so many hidden treasures like this beautiful tree with pink blooms and the street lined with bushes of yellow flowers.
So as a sappy ending note I will say this – ladies, who you choose to spend the rest of your life with should be someone who loves you this much. Someone who supports your goals, no matter how crazy they may be. Someone who stands out in the rain to help you write an awesome blog post because it makes you happy.
I hope you all enjoy this look as much as I do! Send me an email if you have any questions that I haven’t already answered – petitejourneyblog@gmail.com
