Hi! My name is Ashley Hill, creator of Petite Journey.
Petite Journey began May 20, 2017 as a form of self care for me. It helped me to write down my thoughts and express myself while I was going through depression. Since it’s start, this blog has allowed me to open up and be who I truly am. Turns out there are many things about myself that I was faking – I didn’t want to do that anymore. I had so many people use the word “girly” as an insult throughout my childhood. So I tried being a lot of other things that I simply was not.
Today I can proudly say that I am a fun-loving girly girl who loves fashion, beauty, and even the color pink. I know how to appreciate a good legging and sneakers day, but I also love the opportunity to dress up. I love shopping and I also love getting outside. I have realized that I can love a lot of things, and that’s ok.
I am 5′ tall which is another significant reason why I started this blog. Being petite is so fun! But it is not easy. I struggled for years wondering why nothing ever really fit me right. I thought I was destined to look frumpy forever, and even if petite clothes existed, I would never be able to afford them. The start of this blog was the beginning of my search for clothes that flattered my body type and made me feel confident despite my small boobs and lack of height. Surprisingly, it didn’t take me long to realize that petite clothes are out there. Through a little trial and error I like to think I have found some of the best brands for other women my size.
Finally, I’m all about keeping it real. So, while my posts will typically include fashion, they will often have my true raw opinions and stories sprinkled in there too. I am learning how to be honest with myself, others, and God for the first time in my life. I am learning how to be a woman in a man’s world. I am learning what it means to work at my first corporate job. I am learning how to be a Christian AND an 8 on the Enneagram. I am learning how to take care of my aging mother at a very young age. I am learning how to have better priorities and time management – and I hope this small glimpse into my journey will encourage you on you own.
